Recruitment
Team Vanilla
Translators
Requirements:
- Must be able to form coherent English sentences (yes, this HAS been an issue), non-native speakers are obviously okay but you should be able to hold your own when it comes to grammar and spelling
- Of course, know some Japanese though required level is low (like, people that started learning Japanese or taking Japanese classes are also welcome);
- Must be able to work in a group unless you can handle editing yourself;
- Expected workload: You’re free to do stuff whenever you like
Type of material to translate:
Anything that falls into the general category of mainstream hentai. If you’re interested in the more deviant types of stuff, apply for Little White Butterflies instead.
What we offer you:
First contact with the hentai scanlation community and its inner workings. We will teach you proper script layout, offer help with translation (including routine translation checks and QC) and of course, give your work a wide circle of publication. Thousands of people all over the world will read your work – sounds good, doesn’t it? Even if you just begin learning Japanese, joining a translation team can help you get better fast – no need to be shy!
Misc (just because I have to put this somewhere):
- Do not try to pass off machine translations as your own. We WILL be able to tell the difference.
- Concerning literal translations – if you think literal translations are cool, don’t even think of applying. I would punch that shit right out of you, and you wouldn’t want that, do you? We translate Japanese>English, not Japanese>Weeaboo.
- We have NO workload and generally, no deadlines either. You are also not obliged to work on any stuff you don’t pick yourself. That means you have total control over WHAT you do and WHEN you do it.
Test? How?
No obligatory test; we do, however, offer you sample pages to test your own translating skills yourself. It is highly advised to take this voluntary test though – no use cheating yourself, your true ability will shine through when you tackle your first translation anyway.
Interested?

Hey,
Posted a comment in the “About this page” thread, but I forgot to leave my email there anyway; it’s -email edited out-. Like I said I can read a lot of kanji and most porn is within my ability.
Thanks a lot!

Hello!
I’ve been studying Japanese for about 1 year and 2 months now, mostly at my own but I’ve also been taking private lessons since 5 months back. I hope that translating doujinshi will help me further with my Japanese studies, but translating in general is also something that I’ve been wanting to try out for some time now.

Hello! I’m interested in translating for Team Vanilla. You do some really nice releases, and I want to be a part of it. I’ve studied Japanese for 8 years, 4 at university, and lived in Nagasaki for five months last year.
Send me an email and let me know how to get started!

Half Japanese, lived in Japan for almost all my life, I’m a traveling DJ so I know many other languages. I can do any kind of coding, translating, programming, web editing known to man. Tried to get on with fakku but there currently not recruiting anyone.
Drop me line, it would be much appreciated if I could get on with you guys, been wanting to join something such as this for awhile now. I’ve been a follower since you guys have started and know the general basis of things.
My regards,
Couric krien
